1. Before you start: Posting a jobTo hire a tradesperson on GoTradesman, you’ll first need an active job listing.


2. When a tradesperson shows interest in your jobIf a trade member is interested in your job, they will send you a request to be added to your shortlist.


  • Notifications:
    You’ll receive a notification based on your chosen preference:
    • Email
    • Push notification
    • Or both


    • What the notification includes:
      A link to the tradesperson’s profile page, where you can:
      • Read reviews from previous customers
      • View photos of their work
      • See the trade services they offer

      3. Reviewing and managing your shortlistOnce you’ve checked a tradesperson’s profile and you’re happy to consider them:
      1. Go to your My Jobs page.
      2. Find the relevant job listing.
      3. Click the SHORTLIST button for that job.
      On the Shortlist page, you’ll see:
      • Trade members who have requested to be shortlisted
      • Trade members you have already accepted to your shortlist


      4. Accepting or declining a shortlist requestFrom the Shortlist page:
      1. Find the trade member you want to respond to.
      2. Click the RESPOND button.
      You now have two options:
      • Accept – if you’re interested in speaking with them
      • Decline – if you’ve viewed their profile and decided they’re not the right fit
      If you decline, they will be removed from your shortlist for that job.


      5. Messaging a tradesperson on your shortlistOnce you accept a shortlist request:
      1. Stay on your job’s Shortlist page.
      2. Find the accepted trade member’s profile in the list.
      3. Click the SEND MESSAGE button shown against their profile.
      You can use the chat feature to:
      • Discuss the details of your job
      • Ask questions about their experience
      • Exchange contact details
      • Arrange a visit or appointment


      6. Hiring a tradespersonWhen you’ve decided which trade member you want to hire:
      1. Go to your job’s Shortlist page.
      2. Find the trade member you want to hire.
      3. Click the AGREE HIRE button shown against their profile.
      4. Follow the on‑screen instructions to confirm your hire.
      This formally records that you’ve chosen that tradesperson for the job.


      7. Leaving a review after the job is completeOnce the work has been completed, it’s very important to leave a review of your experience.
      • We kindly ask that you submit your review within 30 days of the job being completed.
      • This helps ensure the experience is still fresh in your mind and leads to more accurate feedback.


        After you submit your review:
        • Your review may be checked before it’s accepted and published on the platform.
